Field Description: In order to promote unity in the church and to provide on-going training for the more than 250 pastors and deaconesses in the India Evangelical Lutheran Church, the seminary holds an annual in-service training program. Most have been trained at Concordia Seminary, Nagercoil. The seminary faculty is involved in regularly gathering these workers for in-service training, sometimes regionally, and sometimes nationally. Usually the deaconesses are gathered separately.

Typically, LCMS speakers are brought in. This year it will be Dr. Robert Preece of Zion Lutheran Church, Dallas, on the theme of “Ecclesiology.” Last year Dr. Robert Kolb and Dr. Richard Carter spoke on the theme “Our Lutheran Heritage.” These spiritual gatherings have become crucial for keeping the church workers focused on the mission of the church.
